Nanami: Roomie!! Shin has already kind of gone into protecc mode about Nanami (esp this one, now that he's getting a better idea of how to tell them apart) and that seems unlikely to change :' ) She's part of the growing collection of little siblings he's been adopting, and he's in prime position to worry since they both see each other a lot and the poor sleep and staring at walls is very evident. Not that he's sure what to do about it, but you know, he's Concern. That concern and his assessment of Nanami as someone like Kanna is probably why he's letting her room with him at all given his January paranoia and his own hangups about manipulating people.

They have a lot in common and I can't wait for that to come up. They're video game nerds! They should have a battle sometime (Shin will probs lose, but he'll make a very good showing).

I couldn't resist flailing back at you on discord already but you get to deal with me in two places lol

Nanami hasn't 100% figured out her roomie's... deal yet. But to be honest, she's not sure she needs to. He's an amiable roommate, they hang out a lot together in the room even if they're not talking with each other, and it's nice to be able to have somebody she can just kinda quietly exist with.

He seems stressed or tired a lot. But she's not having a great time herself so it's not as if she knows how to help. Still... she's been kind of quietly looking for an opportunity to help him, partly to repay him for the kindness and help he gave her, and just partly because she cares about him and wants to.

She hasn't managed to get him to game club yet, BUT once she figures out he's also a NERD she will definitely do that, so look forward to her finding out once she's got her GGA back!

Dfdgdf yeah Shin is an unofficial member of the Game Club in that he goes there sometimes and plays DnD with Senku or games alone or participates in the snack gambling ring because he has a real problem, but his participation in, well, anything had a sharp drop in January and is only just starting to recover in between trying to solve murders and mysteries and teaching and this new bombshell. Nanami should def get him back into it!

God it's just mutual tired stress and wanting to help and not quite knowing how hhh my heart. I do like that while she has getting in his space and prying a bit he handled it better than the last time someone did that because he could understand she WAS just trying to help.

I'm crying at this point even Shin doesn't know his own deal, his sense of self-identity's a bit of a mess.

Unfortunately Nanami hasn't been back to game club since Disney (except sneaking in on her own very late), but... handhelds are so good for curling up by yoursel(f/ves) when you need space, isn't it?

I'm glad that her pressing for details didn't backfire, it totally could've and that would've been understandable. These poor kids all need therapy.

She does care about him, though. She's been lonely for a long time so she's got plenty of love to give. And even if they don't quite get each other (or themselves) yet, he's kind to her.

And awww Nanami... them just curled up on their bunks with their devices... they deserve it honestly.

THEY REALLY DO ALL NEED THERAPY but the counselor eats memories and finds murder funny. Shin has had some opportunity to grow but it's homegrown, so to speak - I'm proud of him though.

Honestly if he knew that last part that would scare him a great deal, that she's latching onto him because she's lonely, because he's deeply afraid of mistreating her and repeating the cycle of abuse, this is a persistent worry in Shin's CR.

Yeah... Nanami's loneliness definitely contributes to putting her in more vulnerable situations than if it were otherwise. Hopefully this is something she can work on at Yogen though. I think she's on her way.

(In Shin's case specifically I'm not particularly worried OOCly. I think.)

At most Shin'll be Back On His Bullshit. Despite his fears, he really is a kind person at heart.
