I edited smiling icons for no reason and that makes me laugh bc I thought to myself that the only way she would ever smile is if we made it to endgame after tearing apart the whole murdergame aspect of the school, but then she died. Anyways, it probably wasn't with it in mind but Nao was right in saying that you just have to be there in the same room as Maya and she'll slowly get used to you and stop minding your presence; see: Subaru in music club. And Natsume is so persistent which annoyed her but at the same time, she believes that if you really want something, you don't give up on it. And Natsume never gave up. She disliked it when he's trying to be charming bc you just don't trust people like that on principle, especially when it looks like he's like that to all the girls by default, so her opinion of him only increased when they have serious conversations, aka when they bicker, which isn't a bad thing because you argue about things you care about. can't change her mind that he's embarrassing though, like, look at him. The whole thing about wanting to become friends was embarrassing HAVING A PICNIC IN THE AUDITORIUM WAS EMBARRASSING their not-date was embarrassing, Natsume puts way too much effort into things and she just gets embarrassed by it all, because who would not be? He's stubbornly persistent and annoying about it, but Maya likes people who work hard and makes an effort and especially when they follow through on their intentions, and she can begrudgingly accept and appreciate the fact that he was thinking in her best interests when trying to get her to open up and give things/him a chance instead of dismissing it from the get-go. He's smart and hard working and confident and can be charming sometimes, and there's no doubt in her mind that he'll become somebody successful in the future, so yeah, if they were in any other place in any other situation, she would give him the time of day.
