subaru calls her baachan for a reason, and it's because she's like a cranky granny!!! but it seems like as long as you don't cause too much of a fuss she's willing to go along with this or that, so despite the teasing nickname he does think more good than bad of her; she's strict and been through Something she doesn't seem inclined to tell anyone, and... honestly just because someone's heart is guarded doesn't mean they're a bad person. it just means that they've been hurt somehow before, and he can respect that enough not to pry or beat too much on it

besides, she's a studious girl who prefers to lone wolf it, that's interesting and unique he's probably brought some simple breakfast to put on her desk at least once or twice... he might honestly poke more into her life soon enough, his own. stuff. is settling down so he'll have more free time to bother his classmates

kaede thinks she is a funny (weird) little girl. not in a bad way, though! very kind, old-fashioned and... a little strange at times, sure, but her own classmates were uh. they uh. they were a pretty unique bunch, so you could say that kaede's a little more used to people's oddities than others... regardless, she is very thankful for rika and her offer of lessons, and hopes that playing piano has been just as fun -- it has been for her, because she enjoys it and trying new things, and if there's ever been time for tea you can bet kaede would've liked to join, that too is something she's never done before and that may seem strange Because It Is. please ask her sometime about why certain things are just, unknown to her
