when Maya's encompassing thoughts about everybody is "ugggggggggghh" and for Subaru it's "UGHHHHHH" He's pretty much the sort of person that's hardest for her to get along with, he's bright and chipper and noisy and wants to hang out with you for no reason and talk about things that don't matter and give you stupid nicknames that mortify you a little, and it's hard bc she's such a serious person and when she looks at Subaru fooling around, there's the impression that he can't take things seriously. But she's learned that he can, seeing how he is in music club which is probably the only thing that's saving him here tbh, but even though he's there to have fun with it, he's also dedicated and works hard at it and maybe you don't have to be a serious person to be serious. Music is as close to a hobby as she has, so even if it's just Subaru sitting in the room listening to her play, she can appreciate the company with the bonus that as long as she's playing, Subaru will shut up.

awwww maya..!!!!!! she might be one of the only people who ever recognized that he was a serious person, at least where it mattered -- he's been called strict and stern, especially on himself when it came to practicing or leading others through the same during idol work, i'm glad that he could show that here, too...

honestly, he has a lot of friends who fall into the serious sort of type that she is -- hokuto being a big one, someone who's one of his best friends -- so he would've liked her right off the bad, no matter what point of time it was... it just happened that it was almost immediately thanks to natsume giving him the twins' names as people to trust, which is why he wanted to befriend them out the gate. maya was someone who gained his respect and admiration easily, because he could see she liked music same as him and didn't mind playing for him when he asked on off days just so he could listen or sing if he managed to wheedle her enough for one of those,

because honestly he's the same sort of person, he likes existing next to people more than anything else, so if you give subaru the time of day then he'll be happy with that... if you can stand him being around, he can be quiet or play by your rules at the very least!! and if he knows they prefer a way to be spoken to -- like maya's directness, how she'd prefer getting straight to the point vs beating around a bush pointlessly -- then he'll go to that first, because he cares, and then back to his normal.. honestly maya is lucky he didn't greet her with a hug every day because if he thought he could get away with it without losing a toe he would

rokkun: subaru has split feelings on him sometimes, but overall it's more positive than the dude really deserves... he thinks they're similar to an extent and wants to befriend him, says they're friends to that purpose, and would honestly love to wingman for him if he could JUST GET IN THE SAME ROOM AS THE TWO AGAIN!!! subaru figures that rokuro's a kind person who's just... dealt with so much, tired of the same thing over and over again from the info he received recent from komaeda, and he isn't surprised that the other feels the way he does -- but at the same time, subaru would still call him a loser for giving up on others just because something doesn't work once, twice, a hundred or two times doesn't mean it won't work out on anything after!!!

also he thinks rokkun's best when he's acting like the age he looks, even if it means subaru himself's getting hurt in the process -- he's used to tussling with his friends, so he might actually see if he can't rile rokkun up more and more to get that end result. even into march i promise

chiaki: chiaki is his GIRL he honestly likes her spunk and energy so much, she's fun to be around... he admires how determined she is, how she doesn't give up and just Does Something if she wants to. chiaki's very charming in her own way, he doesn't see how she's single with guts like that because he'd probably dig going on dates with her if he wasn't dating her little bro, and he's the type that'll honestly dog after her like an animal just because she's doing something fun or nothing at all. i was really disappointed they ended up not pushing subaru into the pool and embarrassed rokkun instead, so please push him into the pool some day he'll have a blast splashing her to try and get her to join him

oh... this goes for both of them too, but subaru'd like to be on good terms with the rest of keigo's family since they're important to them lmfao this is why he tries so hard esp after learning stuff and this'll continue to be the case even if it's just Existing In Their Presence so they can get used to him

god: subaru thought god would be scary and mean considering keigo's words but god's actually a super nice being; the shrine gives off a lonely feel and it aches at him more before than after the visit, but something in him just wouldn't want to leave it alone... he doesn't know if it's wrong to think god is cute but they are. they remind him of the tree spirits always spoken about, so he wants to take care of them. even after the visit, he might go with helena or keigo whenever one of them troops up there and see if he can offer his hands to sorta shape the place back up, even if he's got some new personal issues about himself to deal with now

it's also to thank them for their help, because while he won't remember what he gave up he's grateful nonetheless that they accepted what he offered
