anyway komaeda is very special, because he got his foot in the door to make himself useful and get on amami's good side very quickly ! he made it apparent almost right off the bat that he Knew Things, and then we had that entire unfolding of unfortunate events where amami got to see komaeda attempting to care again and again and again... between rokkun dying, and the stuco election stuff, and the library dates... good. there are also some ways in which amami feels like komaeda understands what he's been through more than others can, paralleling between the not-entirely-equivalent yogen–canon experiences with "shut up komaeda/give up amami," and then also the personal losses in events like losing rika and saihara back then too... amami considers komaeda as being one of the people who understands what he felt at that time more than most did.

but yeah. with that it's like, no matter what komaeda says, it's difficult for amami to see him as a person who doesn't care about others in the way that seems to be assumed a lot? or i guess that'd be like, in the way that he leads others to believe. even if amami doesn't necessarily agree with everything komaeda does, he understands that ko has his reasons and he's willing to more or less work with that as long as there's a certain margin of accountability and things don't end too badly. this means he's somehow ended up as komaeda's poorly trained dog who starts barking at people who say mean things about him.

he wants to be friends with ko so badly it's pathetic though. he's trying so hard to break down ultimate status so that he can do this. there's reasons for this that you know that i'm not going to get into here but, anyway, it's the stonecutter post.

also the chat we had the other night about earned weight of opinion with komaeda was really cute and i've been thinking about it even if it wasn't necessarily the kind of thing that would show in-game outside of like, maybe specific circumstances. i hope komaeda believes in amami and his plan when that goes down in (checks watch) soon.
